The IID tool for about 400 will be great for the LR3. I am going to get one. It allows you to adjust the air suspension, clear system faults and codes that could possibly leave you stranded, as well as a lot of other cool features. There are some good threads on expedition portal with guys outfitting LR4's for serious overland trips and they are making backup air suspension inflation tools, spacers for backup lift in case air bags deflate, etc. A lot of the answer depends on how much you are going to do with the vehicle and if you will be doing a lot of remote travel. The LR3 has a lot of electronics that all work together so the IID tool is a must in my opinion.

Just having a little fun. My friends and I joke that the old series trucks and later models always seem to be running well but it's the disco 1's and 2's, p38's, classics, that are always breaking on us. Plenty of people have great Rovers from all different years, I was just kidding around.
