2013 LR2, GPS Not Showing

Hello. I am an owner of a Land Rover LR2, 2013. Ever since I got it, the menus on the screen contained no GPS buttons, although the manual says that it is equipped with a GPS system; and there’s a button below the screen labeled “NAV” that indicates that it should have one. I find it pretty useless that there’s an infotainment screen if there’s no GPS, so I just came here to ask. Thanks in advance for anyone who decides to pay some information forward!

If there is no map DVD in the player you will not have NAV. Also just because the manual tells you all about options does not mean you have it. If there is a NAV fault a Jag specific code will be set.

There is no DVD map drive on a 2013. The navi data is updated from a USB drive. The update costs $120 from Land Rover but the last update was in 2020 and there will be no more updates. You are much better off finding a nice Garmin unit. If you really want the 2020 data find someone who has the USB stick and copy it.

I don’t think that will work… the installation of the image is bound to the vin, and it is password protected.

(I have the 2020 image for the LR2 and LR4. I needed to buy both images from navigation.com)

Before everyone starts chiming in on how they wouldn’t do that or how they saved money…. I prefer to have the systems of the vehicle work as expected and I detest gizmos affixed to dashes, windows, consoles, etc.

Incidentally, a carry over from a previous career and a current sailing addiction, I prefer the route view to the blindly following turn by turn approach to navigation.

I prefer to have Navi systems that won't kill me with outdated directions.

Wait, so, where is this DVD player? Is there a specific one for the navigation modules?

Is there an option to install this at home or do I have to spend $120 no matter what? I’m personally fine with a 2020 installation, just got to know where to find it.

I completely agree. Having some other gadget in my car makes it look ugly, in my opinion. I would be perfectly fine with slightly outdated directions, I just want the GPS that my car came with to actually work. How do I go about with this update?

Let me summarize this for you @lr2o
1. The 2013 model uses an integrated nav system in which the maps are written to system memory. There is no dvd.
2. The navigation was optional for some models,.. included with others. I have no idea which model you have.
3. it appears the option is not installed on your vehicle. If it is even available (i doubt it), it would be very cost inhibitive.
4. There are so many aftermarket choices. Some are better at road based travels, others go a little further and include off road tracks and topographical maps. (I use all kinds)
5. It is worthwhile to get the build sheet for your vehicle. Any LR dealer would provide one. Or purchase it at topix.
