Default Difficulty engaging gear when cold

Hi everyone,
I've searched this and other forums for a long time but haven't found a single answer to my problem: my Freelander (138,000 km) has had difficulty engaging especially first gear and reverse since when cold. It's impossible shifting when cold, but it's all right when warm.
I have already changed oil of gearbox...
Do you have experience in this problem?

Sounds like you have a manual transmission. Is it that the lever will not move into position while running when cold? Will it do it with engine stopped? Exactly the correct fluid needs to be used and the level correct. Excess fluid will cause the sync rings to keep turning and prevent engagement.

Thank you OldKarz,
yes I have a manual transmission. When cold is impossible engage the first and a reverse gear. I leave in third gear and then I can move the lever in first gear, or in reverse... whit engine stopped is the same situation.
The mechanic just changed the oil of gearbox and put in two liters...

The sync rings are immersed in the gearbox oil. Too much or thick oil will keep them spinning, especially if a little worn. Until they stop it prevents gear engagement so the gears do not grind.

Yes, need to be sure they used the right type, amount, and weight of gear oil. Almost any gear oil will lube the steel gears just fine, but synchros can be sensitive to additive formulation.

Also if the clutch is dragging a little, that can make it hard to engage the non-synchro gears. May need to be adjusted or replaced.

This morning my mechanic tried with me at cold... the first gear strangely engaged perfectly but nothing to do for second gear, fifth gear and reverse... now he will contact Land Rover because he don't know what to do...

Download the service manual and look at pages 1403 and 1404 for troubleshooting guides for the manual transmission. They appear to point to the gearshift's lever linkage bearing, cables or mechanism.
