but I think I am going to follow the manual and just use the new gaskets without any sealant , I will follow the torque specs as well .

The intake is the one place where I would never put any sealant, because if any of it comes loose it's going to play havoc and create a lot of grief for me to clean it out. If the surface condition is a bit rough, put a rag into each of the openings to protect the intake and use something like a steel wool pad to smooth it out, or very light sandpaper. Carefully wipe everything down before reassembling. Most of the time, however, this is not necessary. If it is noticeably rough then you probably have significant corrosion inside as well and need a new manifold. You can find them used at car-parts.com in any one of the thousands of chop shops in the US.
