Interior moisture
 

2009 Land Rover LR2 with 135.000 miles and going strong. Recently within 10 minutes of startup the interior windows (windshield, & front windows) fog up to a point of some vision loss. Adjusting the fan speed and putting on the defrost clears the window in a few minutes. My 1st thought is a leak in the heater core but there is no coolant loss or smell of anti freeze in the cabin. A half hour into my 1 hr drive to work all is good and I'm back to using the auto feature on the climate control. Using the recirculate feature (no outside air) helps out as well. Looking for a body or sun roof leak, Maybe an issue with the mixing box, cabin filter dirty? Any ideas?

Update: Spent Sunday digging as deep as I could into the dash. Removed the radio, AC controls and tunnel side pieces to find where the heater core sits. I wasn't able to open the enclosure to view the core, it requires the tunnel console to be removed plus a few other pieces. Tunnel area was dry and the condensate line was in-tacked no wetness but I discovered moisture in the carpeting in both sides of the front seats? More questions! Frustrating! Turn the car off and I get condensate collecting on the inside of the windshield within 5 minutes by the defroster vents.

I took the LR2 to a local service station that does repairs on Land Rovers in general. Did not discover any source only the likely source is condensate not draining properly. Cleaned out the drain / short hose but the problem is still persists. The mystery is how a condensate drain can get clogged to begin with?

I was getting water into the rear of my vehicle. Mine was the sunroof drains were clogged. Could that be your issue? If so, you can run weed-eater wire down the tube to clear it out. Good luck.
