Removing factory nav
 

Good day, i just recently purchased a new to me 2008 lr2 with factory nav.
I ve searched different forums but i seem to be the only one going this direction,
With waze now and google maps and gps with current traffic situations, i dont see a purpose to keep the factory nav. I would like to take it out and use the space to for additional storage area.
are the nav and radio 2 seperate things or 1 has to be there for the other to work.
If i pull out the nav will everything else as is does/should? Or do i need to do other wiring stuff? Has anyone else done it?

The sat nav and the radio are connected via the MOST network. See http://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums...ST_Network.pdf.

The MOST network is a ring based optical network. If you remove a component (I assume you want to remove the screen and the DVD player under the seat) you must repair the ring again otherwise you will loose all equipment connected to MOST (the radio, amplifier and Bluetooth).

If fixing the ring is enough to keep the radio working I do not know, haven't tried it myself. I know that if you don't fix the ring they will not work.

Land rover also has a "bypass shunt for fiber optics", part number LR019014. Apparently it can be used to "close" the MOST loop. See for instance here Bypass shunt for fiber optics/ MOST network - Diag Auto but if you search for the part number you will find other suppliers.
