Replacing OEM stereo and nav or upgrading?
I have an 2008 LR2 that I want to add nav and satellite radio. It only has the stock unit. do you know what this requires? I can purcahse a totalled 2008 stereo unit and nav but i am not sure what would all need to be sent to make it work. Ideas?
Has anyone replaced their unit with an aftermarket stereo? I think since the stock amp is fiberwire that it also has to be replaced. |
I am not qualified to answer this post but I am greatly interested in the topic. I have watched this video on youtube and I would like to do the same:

What I have found thus far is that Best Buy is unable to help. Too complicated for them. A new amp may have to be rewired to each speaker. I could purchase a used nav and stereo unit from a 2008 HSE but I do not know what I would need to make it work with my vehicle. I would like satellite but what do I need to make it work? A custom install place said they could put in a stereo with nav, gps, back up camera, and dvd but it would be $2500 or more to do so. Finding the dash trim is difficult but i think you have more luck if you try finding one in the UK for the freelander 2.

I have the factory nav in my 2008 LR2. One thing I can tell you is that it's very difficult to read the screen during a sunny day. The nav screen is not shrouded with a hood, so the sun shining through the large sunroof window creates a lot of glare on the dash.
