Default Sideview mirror tilt problem

Greetings,

my passenger side mirror will tilt in reverse, but doesn’t return to the original position when back in drive. I can manually move it, but it’s tough to do that every time. Any troubleshooting ideas? Thanks!

No hints once it's stuck, but I make a habit of fully cycling mirrors, sunroofs, etc at least annually... that minimizes corrosion on unused moving parts as well as avoiding buildups of ridges of grease, dust, etc at a partial range of motion.

You can take it apart, clean it with a solvent and spray it clear silicone lubricant. Likely it's just gunk inside. It could also be a bad motor or gear, in which case I suggest using car-parts.com to find a replacement from a salvage car. That's what I did with one of mine.
