AC recharge

Hey team.

I have been working on my LR3 for more then 12 years now to the point, that nothing really feels mysterious about this wonderful, yet somethings complicated machine. One of the things, that I never did on mine is AC recharge. I heard many stories, that working with with our our Variable displacement AC compressor requires a completely different approach when it comes to topping off fluid than regular compressors with clutch. Can any shop top my refrigerant or diagnosis how low I am on fluid requires some special LR equipment to properly assess and refill ? Thanks.

Normal system. No pixie dust.

No Voodoo equipment needed, nice. Thanks.

I said no pixie dust, voodoo equipment is always mandatory...

No pixie dust but take it from someone who's done it the system is sensitive to pressure change.

Use high and low pressure gauges(available for under $50 @ harbor freight) and if you have the Gaptool you can use it to monitor compressor temp and pressure.

All I want to know if any shop that has a mobile AC diagnostic unit can is capable of properly re charging an LR3 or it has to be LR dealer with proper equipment specializing with Variable displacement compressors and such with no clutch, that are always on with engine running.

Any AC shop can evacuate and fill the system.
