Alternator connector
I posted this over on the LR4 side, but since more DIY'er live here, I seek a wider audience.
Does anyone know the process to remove this type of connector? The car is a 2014 LR4 with the 3.0 S/C V6 https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...317778efe.jpeg |
I would assume the usual compress the tab, cuss and wonder how plastic welds itself together like that. Then see if I can get at the edge of the connection to pop it apart with a screw driver.

My thoughts exactly but she is worried about breaking the old one and loosing here core charge. I can see her point. She so wanted to do this on her own and even the call at this point for help she may think she failed.
We she took the car, I gave her the Car Logbook, with all service history, and upcoming service due, the Gap iiDTool for that car and instructions on how to use it, I also gave her a thumb drive with the service manual and wire diagram and Bodsy's Brake Bible and then gave her a ham sandwich and a road map. I think she will get it done and have a much better feeling about herself when this done, but right now, I need to help her get that connector off. Thanks for the technique for removal. Jeff |
Generally they dont care too much how a core looks and usually replace the connector anyway.
I can't find the email, but I bought a replacement connector for when I change mine because I heard they break easily. Not on the alt itself, the plug on the harness. Think I bought from eBay. |
Well, they broke the wire. now they just need to find the connector (If you look at the picture you will see it is a one wire type)
DakotaTravler, any chance you can find that part number? Jeff |
I dont have it handy, but after some searching I think this is what you need.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Connector-B...lTLR9oqFH8vVaQ Its the same connector used with the LR2 alternator I think. The keying seems to match. https://findpigtails.com/product/t64...gac=1671066134 And the photo below should be of the alternator end of the connection. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...88cbb6aa23.png |
DakotaTravler:
That is it, she has ordered two of them (smart girl if I say so myself) and they will be in this week. Thanks for the help. Jeff |
