Brake issue. New pads and rotors

Merry Christmas! I had a squeal coming from the rear brakes on our LR3. I bought some oem pads from the dealer, about $110 for the rear set. I got a pair of TRW rear rotors from ebay, about $120 for the pair. Got everything installed and set out to bed things in. I did a couple of laps around the neighborhood (slow 25mph max) and noticed some serious squeaking. I got back home and noticed that the rotors appeared burned but only on the inner and outer edges. The middle third of the rotors were fine, almost like the pads weren’t touching there. I put a straight edge on the rotors. They looked pretty flat. Ideas? Seller of the rotors said that it might take a few weeks to set in. I have never had that experience. I have some photos but can’t upload for some reason. Both left and right rotors aere doing the same thing. I removed and reinstalled everything and added CRC anti squeal red. Didn’t get a chance to try them out yet. Just flew to Boston for the holidays. Phil

Squealing all the time or during brake application?

Brake application and not all of the time. I am more concerned about odd pads/rotor wear.

Caliper guide pins greased and free moving? Any issue with the parking brake dragging?

Everything is greased and parking brake is fine. It is as if the rotors aren’t true or the pads aren’t flat. I can’t seem to be able to attach photos.

Yeah the forum software update on here and others seems to have made it more difficult to upload. I find I have to try a few times to get it to happen anymore.

3 weeks ago i replaced front rotors and pads, squealed like a stuck pig for about 300 klms and now just a tiny squeak just as i come to a stop so it should be gone in another week. I used TRW cotec ceramic pads and so far happy with them @$58 on sale plus $155 for rotors.
Rears will be done in a couple of months and will go with the same combo, i noticed the pads had what looked like a painted coating which to me suggests that is what caused the squeal and now it worn off they are quieter.

In my experience the brakes squealed a bit in the bed in process, the OEM pads more so than later sets of ceramics etc.

On rear rotors I would have gone genuine and then used whatever pad you like. That eliminates any large possibility of bad rotors (the hardest to rectify).
