BRAKE SENSOR change
 

Hi everybody!

I have a 2006 LR3 V8 SE now for almost a year now, and I just changed the front brake pads over the Thanksgiving weekend. I bought the Greenstuff 7000 series SUV/light truck EBC Brake pads online for a reasonable price. So, everything was going smoothly with the change,but whenI reattached the brake line sensor, it snapped and broke into several pieces. I laughed sarcastically because I always say that thingsthat go too smoothly for me, bound to take a turn for the worse and sure enough history has repeated itself! So, Iwas able to attach what was left of the sensor cable to the brake pad, however, the brake light on the instrument panel inside the truck remains on.
My question is this. Can I change this sensor on my own? Has anybody done this before? And have I voided my warranty now that I changed the brakes on my own?
Any information you have on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I do not change my own brakes. I do however know you can get a new brake sensor for around $16.00 off a land rover parts website ( www.roverparts.com ) I was told that when it is time to change the break pads you should change the sensor as well. you can not salvage if it breaks down. Just get a new one.

You can change the sensor by yourself. The connector is behind the fender liner. you will need to pull the back half down to access it(by back I mean the half toward the rear of the vehicle) There are a couple of screws at rear of the arch at the bottom and several push-pins you must remove as well. Once you have removed them grab the arch trim piece and pull outward(just the rear half). Change the sensor and reverse removal procedure. When you snap the arch trim back on, don't be afraid to smack it with a little force, you will hear a click as each clip reconnects. Unlike the full-size Range Rovers, you do not need to leave the key on for a couple minutes to have the light clear, it will turn off immediately.

I can't believe I missed Thanksgiving, I guess time does fly when driving a Land Rover.
