Buying an lr3 this weekend!

Well after owning 2 dIIs finally time to buy a lr3. Its a 2005 215k miles, mainly highway. this car is super clean, only needs brakes. We are agreeing at 2300 which I thought was a steal! The brakes are shot needs rotors pads and fresh fluid. Its an older gentleman selling the car who attempted to replace the brakes himself and got the wrong parts etc and the brakes are halfway torn apart. I gonna order a kit fro AB. Anyways you all should see more of me soon in this section, Im excited.

Does the brakes being halfway torn apart mean you've not driven this particular LR3 before?

At $2300 I dont think it matters :)

Drove it around his farm it runs and drives great.

It could matter. You really ought to take it up to highway speed and listen for any differential humming. Could be front and/or rear. Replacing those can make your $2300 buy-in look like chump change. I'd want to make sure the EAS Compressor works as well. The front lower control arm bushings wear out every 60k miles or so. The electronic parking brake actuator was weak early one...later ones seem better. Finally, with that many miles I'd be curious if the transmission has ever been serviced. Most of us advised to at least change the fluid around 100k miles. Good luck!

For 2300 bucks who cares... I'd buy it. I just haven't found any that cheap. I mean, how much lower of a price could you go really.. It's worth that in parts.

For that price I'll tow it home if needed let alone running on its own power. Grab before someone else do

Yeah the man has like 10k of service receipts and records.

Good luck on the purchase.

I bought my 2006 with 161k on it and it needed 5k worth of indie shop work.
I agreed to 3k worth or work and it is having an issue with the coolant system which is causing them to hold up the release of the rig to me. The system won't burp and the air won't come out. It keeps spitting the coolant out of the tank. They tell me it missing the extra bleeder valve. But now it might need the radiator or water pump. So either another 600 repair or 300 repair.
I'm only telling you this so you know what can happen.

Not surprising. At least he put money into it.
But for everything you do know about consider there are things you don't know about.
And who maintained it. Was it the dealer or some guy next to the farm that knows how to make short cuts to avoid a 1k bill.
