Thanks for the update Robert. After I posted and doing some more digging I found a service bulletin that I believe was a result of the valve you're talking about. The compressor control valve you're referring to is the same as the direct pressure sensing valve (DPS) in this service bulletin and is mounted in the compressor, right? I think a new compressor may be in order given you have to remove the compressor to get to the valve anyway. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...06303-9340.pdf

I'm was told by the gent who replaced mine, "yes the solenoid or direct pressure sensing valve is a common fault where L.P. runs too high and the H.P. runs too low thus insufficient pressure and consequentially heat is generated for sufficient energy transfer. Replacing the valve usually resolves the issue."
