Cold weather causing suspension error light?
Several weeks ago here in Georgia we had the temperature drop down around 20 degrees F. I had my 2007 LR3 parked at the airport for a couple of days, outdoors. Almost immediately after cranking it up, I had a suspension error light. This locked the system and I couldn’t make any adjustments up or down, or adjust any of the terrain settings.
Drove home okay and parked it in the garage. The next day, no error light and none for the next few weeks. During this time the temperature was a bit warmer. This morning the temperature was 14 degrees F. My LR3 was parked in the garage and I drove to the gym with no issues. Parked outside at the gym for almost 2 hours. Cranked it up and immediately got the same suspension error light. Persisted as I drove to work. I know Ford has had issues with cold weather causing false error codes in the air suspension in some of their trucks. Was wondering if I am having a similar issue. Semper Fi! |
Didn't get quite as cold here in Augusta but no issues with the EAS on my 07. No issues either over the holidays in -11 temps up north.
I would think there is something near the end of it's life that pushes it over the edge with the dip in temps. What codes are you getting? |

to bad your not closer I have a GAP tool and it will pull quite a bit even with out the vin unlock

My guess is it's the same as my '09 is currently throwing, intermittently. Started over the Christmas holiday when I was high in the Sierras and it was cold. Been happening every few days ever since. My Hitachi compressor is original so going on 9 years or so. I assume the deep cold finally put the system over the edge.
I have parts ready to replace it with a new AMK, only need the time. I know you can work on the dryer of these compressors that may fix this issue, but with one that old forget it - replace the whole unit. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...846de942a8.png |

I'd be interested to see if it continues to do that when temps return to normal, full-time. It could be due to wonky electrical. We all know the LR3 is sensitive to low voltage and overall fluctuations in current. Well...temps affect electrons, as we also know.
I got a CEL while I was coming home from the Yukon Territory. Since it was -15F overnight I figured I could clear it and ignore it. I don't remember what the code was...hell I may have just cleared it without reading it, otherwise it was nothing so I cleared it and motored on. I even had it plugged in overnight! Started fine and the engine was happy, but the electrical wasn't. That was 2014 and indeed that CEL was nothing, nada, nathan. So maybe collect more data, but DO get an IIDTool and DO get an AMK compressor when it's time to. |
