Dashboard Squeak

Dashboard Squeak
Does anyone know if the speedometer on a 2008 LR3 still has some kind of cable that turns inside a housing? I have a really annoying squeak that has developed, and of course it's intermittent and the dealer never hears it.
I only hear it running on the highway at speeds 65MPH and higher. Usually the faster you go, the louder and more high pitched it gets. Sounds like a hamster running in a squeaky wheel. It won't do it all the time, but once it starts it stays on for long periods of time.
In the old days, we had a car that had a bad speedometer cable, and I remember my dad taking it off the back of the speedometer and squirting a bit of graphite powder in it to get it to quite down. This sounds just like it.
If that's not it, any other ideas? It does not seem like any panel or part you can put your hand on is involved.
