My suspension is down on its knees
 
Hello everyone,

I have a 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 and it has been sitting for quite a while. All 4 suspensions are down to its lowest, it bounces, and impossible to drive without getting sick even for a mile. I don't know what's wrong with it and I don't want to take it to Glen Cove Land Rover because they are already charging me $400 just to diagnose the suspension issue. Please help me figure out what's wrong with the LR3 with the following symptoms:

1- All 4 suspension are in its lowest. Bouncy when you drive it.
2- Errors in the dash: Suspension Fault, HDC fault or not available, Decreased Traction, Brake Fault, Transmission Fault.

I tried to trouble shoot the issue myself like Mc Gyver haha but to no avail, unless I did it wrong.

1- Tried to bypass the air suspension relay with jumper to engage the air compressor and just fill out the the struts so I can drive it to mechanic. Nope, it didnt't work. Britanica (YouTube) made it look so easy!

Please, whoever is knowledgeable out there, please kindly give me your 2 cents before I burn the car truck down haha! Need a lot of help over here. Puh-lease! Thanks! :disco:

1. There is a TON of information to this effect on this message board. Do a search with appropriate keywords.

2. Have you tried a (hard) reset or even simply removing your negative batt cable and re-connecting?

3. Buy an IIDTool. It will help you diagnose.

4. Could be the battery itself, or brake switch, or a brake/tail light.

It could be a steering angle sensor or any number of things

So, it sat a while and seems like all air was lost. Besides an obvious leak (in valve bocks, or elsewhere)
Might be struggling to fill up the completely empty reservoir - which then feeds the 4 corners.

Need more info:
Can you hear the compressor running at all?
All fuses intact? Wiring good?
What exactly did you attempt to "Macgyver?"

You indicated you jumpered the two large slots when relay was removed and nothing happened, well there is a 60/70 amp fuse, near the relay, that maybe blown as that is a direct connection from the battery when ignition is in position 2. If this does not make compressor run then you have a duff compressor or one of the connectors to the compressor is dodgy.

With all those errors my guess would be low voltage or brake switch, do a hard reset and before driving the car hit the brake pedal. If it faults right away its the brake switch, if not look elsewhere ir find someone local with a diagnostic tool.

Hi Yogi,

My name is Jay Butler and I am brand new to this forum (literally today). I am an American and permanently reside in Italy. I have a 2006 LR3 TDV6 HSE and my entire air-suspension just failed about two weeks ago. So, I replaced both the front and rear air-suspensions, all four (4) sensors and the compressor. The sensors and the compressor were all Land Rover OEM products, which I ordered form the dealership here, while the air-suspension was from "Dunlop" who, I am told, makes the suspension FOR Land Rover - but doesn't cost as much because they don't put the little Land Rover sticker on it. I haven't even driven the care 100 Kilometers because we are all in-doors from this ridiculous CoronaVirus ordeal.

Anyway, with all of this time on my hands I decided to get into "Overlanding" am looking to put traditional air-shocks and heavy-duty coil springs on the vehicle to hold the very heavy weight needed for that type of driving. So, would you like to purchase my brand new (and newly installed - yet hardly driven) air suspension for a nice discount? I have ALL of the receipts and will gladly provide them to you tomorrow - when I go to pick up the vehicle from the Dealership. They are just now calibrating the parts to the electronics system - that's how NEW all of this is!
