O2 Sensor vs Cats

O2 Sensor vs Cats
I am sure that there are posts on this already but wanted to describe my exact situation and get some feedback.
I have a 2008 LR3 with about 150,000 miles. It has been running fine with no real issues. However, the Check Engine Light has been off an on for sometime now. More on than off. Kind of been that way since I bought it 6 years ago.
About 3 weeks ago I got in it and started it up. Seemed a little rough and as I drove off it would barely accelerate and the rpms would rev up, cough a little bit, and then drive better but not great. It acted like it had bad gas but I have been through a couple fill ups with no improvement. It drives ok (about 80% of normal) until acceleration is needed. Revs up, coughs and then drives a little better. Seems to get better with longer drives and a little better if I allow it to idle for 5-10 minutes but still not good. Most of the time I drive 3 miles to work and 8 hours later 3 miles home. Not sure if short drives cause issues.
I am leaning toward O2 sensors and/or Catalytic converters. Not sure if removing the cats completely is the right thing to do.
Finally the mechanic tested and it showed, If I recall correctly, he said 20 plus codes. He cleared them but I guess did not check again. He is fixing issues at his house. Long story.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I will be getting the codes today; however, according to my mechanic he is almost sure that the timing has jumped.
Unless someone has a magical solution this probably means scrapping the car. 2008 LR3 with 150,000 miles.
Not sure if it is worth taking to an authorized Land Rover Shop to confirm.
Thanks.

I just do not know if I can see clear to putting in 8k to get it running properly again.
Not sure if I can sale it to someone who would be willing to fix.
Not even sure who can fix around me.
The mechanic did reset the adaptive memory in the pcm and said it would run ok for a couple days.
