Park Brake light

Quick question, if I pull the fuse for the Park Brake will this have any effect on else in my 2006 LR3 ?

DakotaTravler 04-15-2019 03:14 PM

Nope. I ran around for almost a year with no fuse. Although I did read once that some of the traction systems also use the parking brake for more dynamic braking control which is why after driving rough conditions it should be serviced. But I have never dug into all the details on how these systems really work. And I never had issues off-road.

What is the issue you are having?

Park Brake Light

Hey Dakota T,

Thanks for responding. I removed my emergency brake shoes from the rear wheels, they were jammed. Put new rotors and pads on and runs awesome. The only problem is that annoying blinking Park Brake light in my dash that I would love to disconnect, but before doing so just wanted to make sure the fuse didn't affect anything else. I called the Rover dealer and of course wanted me to bring them the car so they could run diagnostics= hand me a bill. You believe I can remove the fuse without a problem?

Yeah, its not a problem to pull the fuse. You will always have the light though, no way to get around that. Like I mentioned, I ran for a year like that because they were out of alignment from later finding them very worn on one side. Probably improper install/adjustment. This caused the parking brakes to hang up and EPB motor to squeal. I had to override and release the parking brake manually then pull the fuse to prevent the motor from self-adjusting. So you removed the EPB shoes completely? If so, don't mention it to your insurance company! :)
