Parking Brake Light
 

I’m hoping someone’s knowledge here will provide me with an easy solution to eliminating an annoying “parking brake fault” alarm light on my dash.
I’ve retrofitted a custom, good ole fashion, manual parking brake lever. So there’s no need for that EPB Module. But that amber light! Omg how do I eliminate it? Any ideas?

I should have probably added that before retrofitting the manual lever, the epb was accidentally applied with no shoes attached…oops.
the module was removed and the lead-screw mechanism was unwound so that the 2 metal ends reclipped together. After replugging the electrical connector to the module (no stainless cables attached) the dash still shows an alarm.

Take apart the cluster and remove the LED.

I’d rather not remove the warning light as it could indicate other brake problems.

I’m really at a loss.
i just tried reattaching the epb module and while my son lifted the brake switch I was back there applying pressure to the cog as it performed its “set-up” operation (or whatever it is it does when you first plug it in.

perhaps I could do some witchcraft to the epb module wiring harness so the computer thinks all is swell?

Still no solution to the “brake” light alarm. But here is a photo of my work.

Interesting....and I assume this manual lever actuates the same parking drum brake in the rear; is that correct?

Yes the oem parking brake pads and springs are all stock (including the 8 click back off of the adjusted screw). In theory the original cables could also be used, however, in attempts to save $ I bought a generic cable and adapted it to fit the dust shields.

I’m curious how well it would perform if you applied the brake at speed…say 40 mph. Not sure if it’d be the same or if the EPB Module controls L/R brake pressure as needed to keep ‘er straight in an emergency stop.

I wonder if one can edit the CCF to say there is no electric parking brake?
