Rear Upper Control Arm

How have you validated this? What are the physical symptoms?
My '05 has 135k miles and the rear uppers are fine. My '06 has 245k miles and while there is some "noise" coming from the rear suspension, nobody (at either dealer or indie) has stated that the rear uppers look shot. So, how have you determined this?

Yes, These salty New England winters do so much damage. In fact, I just closely inspected the under carriage and I could put a screwdriver through the chassis box steel frame just in front of the spare tire. For whatever reason, that frame section (about 8 inches) rusted through. It's a real shame as the motor only has 100k miles on it and it's never been off road. The body and interior is in great shape. It has been driven by a women driver since 2009.
I wonder what the options are now. To try and patch the steel frame and replace all the rusted suspension and wheel parts? Or, sell it as a parts vehicle?

I am even more convinced that sat in water, salt water, for an extended period. That is by far the worst LR3 frame I have ever see. Almost be easier to buy a beat up LR3 with a good frame and split that one. Work on the frame, make it nice, transfer your body over - assuming your body is not rusted out too?
