Some strange limp mode
Hi! I'm new here! I have a 2006 LR3 SE that I absolutely love. I have had it a little over a year and it has just under 159,000 miles on it.
Recently I've experienced some sort of limp mode. I will be traveling at 75-85mph for around 20 miles on the interstate and shortly after I get off the exit I will lose power steering and engine power. The engine will still be running, but the RPM gauge drops to 0. The check engine light is always on due to a cylinder misfire, but the battery light and oil light come on. There is no error message on the screen. When this happens. I park the car, turn if off, and right back on and there are no more problems. It usually only happens when I get back into the city after being on the interstate, but yesterday it happened to me as I was pulling into my driveway after only a 6 mile drive through town. I checked battery connection and that is not a problem. There is no water getting in anywhere, and there is no correlation between weather and this issue. I have no clue where to even begin looking for the problem.

Also if RPM is zero, the engine is not running. That is why you get a battery/oil light.
Get the codes, all of them. But your misfire could be causing a rich condition which under the right conditions can cause performance/stall issues especially if the MAF is tired and causing issue of its own. This could be the result of excess fuel, being rich, damaging an O2 sensor. The only other thing I can think of would be the reverse, a lean issue cause by a vacuum leak. The vacuum leak will cause excess air to enter and in turn the fuel is maxed out until you end up lean - lean is basically the truck saying its dumping all the fuel allowed but still coming up short. I am simplifying things though. In short, more codes needed.
