Squirrel Attack
 

A squirrel made a nest on top of my LR3 SE 2006 V8's manifold. It also chewed through some wires on the passenger side of the engine, up on top. Any ideas what this is and how I can get another one?

I just cannabalized an engine harness. Let me know if thats all you need and I can give you a quote.

Any quality auto shop can repair your wiring harness. A few butt connectors and 18 gauge wire.

Sorry, Abran- a complete harness is a waste of time and money on this repair. In fact, I've repaired a few of things over the years. The engine cover has some foam just above this location. They usually make a nest with enough time

Im not proposing a complete harness, just the connectors with a pigtail. He can use butt connectors or solder and heat shrink. For me, I like to have have the factory color wires, but as you said splicing any 18 gauge wire would work.

edit: the top connector barely has any wire to attach to. I think my proposal to replace the connector is best. I also believe this is a DIY job, save the cash for the heavy labor to be done by a repair shop.

Just sent payment for the pigtails. There just isn't much to work with wire wise. Little tree rat made sure to nip the wires right on the edge. Thank you both for your help!

Anyone know what these wires do? Landy runs well, just losing about 1 or 2 mpg.

The white and red are knock sensors wiring and the other wires are for your coolant temp sensor.
