Want to talk about LR3s but afriad it wont get read
Is there any chance we can talk about them here? Just for the few of us D1 owners who are interested maybe we can gather a little information about them.
I have been eyeballing a few, very scared to take a test drive as I might end up with one.. I officially love Land Rovers, and I understand the LR3 is less capable. But its still capable and a land rover. I had a few doubts on my LR ownership. And about a month ago I was reconsidering it based on the part where I was afraid it would let me down.. But thats all past me now. I plan on getting at LEAST one more land rover MAYBE a d2, but with the prices of LR3s dropping, and them being somewhat "differnet" than the old discoveries Im interested.
I know they have computers galore and that kind of scares me, but call me stupid. I like them.. I have seen a few with very slight mods and I really like it.
So what do yall have to say about them? Whats the engine system they use in the US?
About all I know about them is they have air sprung Independent suspension, lots of computers, 2 chassies ??!?@ and weigh ALOT..
And a few fun videos to watch....

First read this story, its a good story.

Then watch this video.

The V6 is the engine from the Ford Explorer, exact same engine.
The V8 is from a Jag.
They drive nice, the terrain response is nice but I dont want to think about my terrain I just want to drive through it.
I have heard of people whos kid throws a toy from the back seat and it hits the LCD screen in the center of the dash and it cracks and that it is about $3600 to replace.
The SAT/NAV needs to be updated once and awhile and that is $100 for the SAT/NAV disc.
The LR3 has both a uni-body frame as well as a ladder frame so it is super rigid.
My 2001 Mitsubishi Montero had 4 wheel indie suspension and I loved it, everything including the diffs were tucked up inside the frame (uni-body) and it had tons or wheel travel.
If it were not for all the computers and the full SLS I would consider a LR3.
