What hose is this?
I notice come coolant leaking on the driveway today. This hose that connects to the thermostat (see pic) was leaking from the jubilee clip.
I cut it shorter and reattached protemp. What is the hose that I need to reattach? And where does it attach down below? Is it it safe to drive with it attached shorter? https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...1ea6fe825.jpeg Leaking from here. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...0983245cf.jpeg Piece that was worn away https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...d30adf75e.jpeg This is the hose what is it called? |
Should be the bleeder line that has the T fitting. Goes down under the manifold. Should be fine to drive like that

So I had to replace it - the end was too far gone and it sprang a leak.

So I was also told by Atlantic British that taking the throttle body off would give me access but I just don’t see how this is possible. I am thinking the intake manifold has to come off. I could be wrong and and would like to be so. Any way let me know how you tackled this. Army ranger - if taking off the manifold , how best to do this? |
Did you have to remove the intake manifold to replace the coolant hose?

It helps, a lot, but no. You can remove it by carefully sliding it back once the clamp is free. Then you can attach strings to the new one as a way of pulling it once lined up. You have to lubricate with straight coolant or something that will dissolve easily once coolant is in the line. But basically line it up very carefully then pull the strings to pull the line onto the nipple. It can help to slightly trim the hose opening and make the last 1mm of it a little wider. Obviously the t-stat housing/crossover tube has to be removed for this - best to put a new one in.
