Default 3l v6

There’s another thread on the problems with the 5L. Wondering how the new engine starting in the 2014’s is holding up comparably.

Already seeing Timing Chains in the 3.0L. Very dissaspointing. So far no 2015's and I hope it stays that way, as I have a 2015 RRS.
Same Valve Cover failures and same coolant pipe issues.
A few months ago we did our first 3.0L Supercharger Nose Cone. On a whim, we checked the rear oil in the Supercharger while it was off and it also had no oil in it. So it seems, all the same issues as the 5.0L

Very disappointing. Looks like the LR3 with 4.4 is the way to go.

We had to do chain guides and tensioners at right around 50k miles in our 2015. The 4.4 does seem to be the champ of this model range.

That's a bummer to hear. I was really hoping the 2015's would be past this.

Ya, I was hoping the same thing. I like the interiors on the LR4’s better, especially the dash without cracks. But I can’t see buying a car when there is a high likelihood of needing to replace the engine at a cost of more than the trucks worth.

Just consider it an expensive preventative maintenance item. FWIW, it was audible for me starting around 45k miles.

Is it that easy? Just have the tensioners replaced every so many miles as a maintenance item and you are out of trouble?

The tensioners can be replaced without massive disassembly (valve covers don't need removed, which means supercharger can stay on). And under warranty, Land Rover will only have you do the tensioners. However every one we have torn down, the chain has been stretched as well, and therefore, we do a chain every time which requires much more disassembly.

Tks. I guess my question is if the tentioners and chains are done, say every 50k miles, can one be relatively confident there won’t be a catastrophic failure requiring engine replacement? Or is it still a crap shoot with these engines?
