Hitch Receiver Question

Can you tell me it is normal for you to be able to partially pull the green lever out and turn it slightly while it is installed and locked? I bought a used Land Rover short hitch off ebay to put on my 2011 LR4. It installs fine, but once I install it and lock and remove the key, I notice I can still pull out the green center part slightly and turn it part of the way down. It won't come off unless I use the key to unlock it, but just making sure it is normal? Anyone with a Land Rover hitch receiver installed that can help me out?

Sounds like there is a little slip in the lock. If the pin is fully seated. I don't think it would be an issue

I think it is fully seated, it just seems like it could be popped off kind of easy. Just wondering if this is normal or if the green center locking mechanism should be replaced. Thanks.

one of mine is tight as a drum the other the green part snapped off and it is now a part of the truck. Upload a video to youtube and post the link so we can see what you see.

Or just go for the piece of mind and change out the lock

I probably will go ahead and change the lock out, but was trying to save some money. The youtube video is a a good idea. Here is a link that better shows my question.

I will pop mine in tomorrow morning and see what it does to double check. Although with it in place if you have to pull and turn to get it to wiggle you are likely fine. I can't imagine anything will be pulling and turn the lever while towing

I recall that being normal. When I had mine apart, I looked at the inside of the knob and could see why that happens. The pin from the tumbler doesn’t hit the block on the orange plastic until you’ve turned it an 1/8 turn or so.

Yes - mine was like that from new. It doesn't appear to move anything when you turn the green piece while it's locked so it sounds like it's working as intended

Thanks everyone. Good to know that is seems to be working correctly. Thanks for all the quick replies!

Just checked mine while I was loading up for the next off road trip. Seems normal to me
