LR4 oil filter cap exploded
 

2015 LR4, 72k miles.

Fired it up cold and heard a pop, went to inspect and found the oil filter cap exploded.

Replacement of the cap is easy enough, but what could have caused this? any other item to be replaced prior to firing again?

that is pretty crazy; do you think it might have been cracked at previous oil change {over torqued}

i dont think it was cracked as the last oil change was done about a year ago as we dont drive it too many miles. I have done the oil changes and torqued to spec for the last 10 years we've had the vehicle. I was thinking maybe it became brittle over time ? and i also drove it the day before at temperature and all was fine.
