LR4 Wont Start
Hi All,
been trying to help my dad with this, and finally was able to stop by and look at it myself. at first I taught it was a bad battery, but it has been replaced, have tried jumping with a fully charged battery, and a running car as well. Have tried the SM Relay reset with the battery disconnected. And have tried the push hard on the break while starting. There is no crank, no signs of trying to start. Most of the time the push button will turn right off after pressing, so taugh it was the start button for a bit. But I got there and ran codes myself and got this:============================ ---------------------------- P0630 [0x0630] VIN not programmed or mismatch - ECM/PCM Status: Confirmed ---------------------------- U2101 [0xE101] CAN data bus - ECM incorrectly programmed Status: Pending ---------------------------- P0500 [0x0500] Archive (inactive) Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) - circuit malfunction Status: Permanent ---------------------------- U2101(00) [0xE10100] CAN data bus - ECM incorrectly programmed Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Test failed since last DTC clear ---------------------------- P0630(00) [0x063000] VIN not programmed or mismatch - ECM/PCM Status: Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle ---------------------------- ============================ Restraints Control Module No DTC found. ============================ Jaguar Drive SwitchpackJaguar Drive Switchpack DTCs: 2 ---------------------------- U0402(68) [0xC40268] Invalid data received - transmission control module (TCM) Status: Test not completed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle ---------------------------- C1A01(96) [0x5A0196] Status: Test not completed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle ============================ Steering Angle Sensing ModuleSteering Angle Sensing Module DTCs: 3 ---------------------------- U3002(62) [0xF00262] Vehicle identification number (VIN) Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear ---------------------------- Could the ECM actually be dead? checked fuses and everything looks good. is there a particualr one to doubel and triple check? this all started when he was out of town for about a month, and when he got back the battery was dead. I guess a neighbor tried to jump it or charge it and never started again. It was fine, in respect to this, prior to going away. any ideas? thanks! |
Lets start with “what do you mean fully charged”?
On the rare occasions I have a collection of codes that make no sense, and as per the workshop manual, I start from ground 0 1 - disconnect battery, fully charge to 12.6 v, wait 12 hours and confirm charge is holding. 2 - touch + lead to - lead, to flatten all capacitance in the circuits 3 - confirm battery reads 12.6 v before reconnecting, reconnect. 4 go through your start procedure. My start procedure is different than whats stated in the owners manual. 1. Do not depress brake. Depress and release start button. 2. Wait for all startup sounds to stop 3. Now depress brake and then touch start button. |
