PVC replacement estimate

all, I’m new to the forum, and was hoping to get some thoughts on the following: for my 2016 LR4 the check engine light came on, steady, about a week ago. No, it was not the gas cap. Today, the dealer ran the diagnostic and says that the PCV valve needs replacing and gave me an estimate of over 3,000 for the work. Sounds wildly high given the part is only about 200. He said it had something to do with access to the part driving the labor up. Does this make sense to anyone? All replies appreciated. Thanks.

I'm surprised it's out of warranty. Don't know enough about that motor to say on the cost of repair though.

Mark,

Only knowing the V8 and older diesels, that sounds insane...

PCV is a small and cheap component, and usually one of the simplest procedures to swap. Ask your dealer if his price is in Roubles or USD? This should also be covered under warranty, that item should not last less than a year.

The PCV for the LR3 is stupid money to and is bolted in on the valve cover. The newer these motors get the more involved they become.
