    cruising temp on highway - 177.
    around town - 183-188.

    I was thinking about the linkage that connects to the throttle body. Looking at the throttle body you have accelerator linkage and cruise control linkage. Sometimes we get play in this linkage. So, check for any unneccessary play in the cable that connects to the throttle body.

    Look at the picture below, see the two cables (w/ the black rubber boots) that connect to the throttle body in the center of the pic; that's the linkage.
    I think the bottom one is for the CC.

    The CC module is located on top of the front passenger wheel well
