mounting roof lights
Im mounting lights to my roof basket and not sure how to run the wiring to the interior. Iv thought about going through the factory bars but worried about developing leaks.

RE: mounting roof lights
You could either use some sort of silicone sealer to plug up any possible holes and making a permanent wiring, or you could try routing through another location. On discovery2.co.uk there's a write up where you run the wiring down to the rear of the truck and go in through the back door. Requires no drilling, and still looks pretty clean. I haven't decided where I'll run my wiring yet.

RE: mounting roof lights
You can always use compression fittings from any hardware store, use the already sheathed wire you can buy off the spool and it would work just fine. Silicone will usually work but it will need to be replaced every couple of years.

RE: mounting roof lights
Thanks for the help. Where would you recommend the best spot on drilling the hole.

RE: mounting roof lights
Where are you mounting the lights? front or rear? if you mount them to the front just run down the front pillar. I would not drill holes in the roof at all.

Would you mind sharing a pic of your truck? Point out where you will mount the light. We can help you a lot with that.
