What is the best way to increase engine performance to gain a little more horsepower and torque: K&N Air Filter, Entire Air Intake Uprade or complete Exhaust System Upgrade to SS? I have a 2003 DSII.
Check http://www.rpiv8.com/

Power is only limited by the money you want to spend or don't.
You can call and they can let you know what will work for a 03.
They are 6 hrs ahead of central time zone, talk to Lisa.

Headers and a new exhaust system will give you very little if you are unable to move the additional air thru the engine.

we really shouldn`t remove the cat either here in OZ... but we shouldn`tspeedand shouldn`t smoke or drink or go flat out down bush tracks that we don`t know inside out...but we do.. why? cause we can, and we enjoy it and unless your truck is on its roof not many people are going to notice and then if its on its roof you got bigger problems than a missing cat.or simply just smash the brick out of it and put it back on.
A 10 to 20 thou shave on the headand a good re-seat on the valves is a great andrather cheapway to boast compression instead of pulling half the motor down to put in a cam,

What about the GT+ tuner box chip? claims fixing our running rich problems and small hp and mpg gains. kit sells for cheap on ebay. plug and play installation.

Way to many people have tried all these cheep fixes over the last couple of year with nothing to show for it.

Until you can get more fuel into the engine, nothing will help. You gotta open the valve smore and for longer and then, you have to worry about getting enough fuel into it and getting rid of the exhaust once you've burned it!

While there may be no substitute for displacement, a big cam and free-flowing exhaust will do wonders. Nowhere near bolt-on, but if you're up for the work, the gains are there to be had, just don't look for it to be quick, nor free.

This might help? I started a thread for this, but Im still waiting for everybody's response. Im not sure if this is worth getting for the amount of power it'll provide.

go with CAI

Forget about the air filter and go for cold air intake system. According to http://airintake.info/air-filter-performance.aspx you will not gain much HP with just filter, and it explains why.

Exhaust system is sure good idea but it is
a) more pricey than CAI
b) installation is more difficult (will have to pay more for the installation)
c) may make your vehicle illegal on the road because of the increased emissions

So I would try the CAI first and then would think about performance chip.

Cold air systems will make more noise when being pushed, give you little or no increase in power in city driving, because of all the engines hot air, and will give you something in the are of 1/4 to 1/2 MPG AT high way speeds when they can actually suck cold air.
Make sure to by pass the t/body pre heater if you hook one up so you are not warming the colder air as it comes in.
