ZF4HP22
So, am I wrong in seeing that the 2003 Disco puts out 300ft/lb of torque into a transmission rate by the manufacturer to take a maximum input torque of 280ft/lb? Doesn't this seem odd? If upgrading the engine how much will that transmission really cope with?

RE: ZF4HP22
Same tranny for the 4.0. When they upgraded to the 4.6, they kept the same tranny, just barely pushing the capacity. Not too many people have gone bigger than 4.6. The transfer case and mainly the diffs can't handle any more. Everything on the driveline needs to be upgraded if you go big (and can make it fit...)

RE: ZF4HP22
Well, I've already got an Eaton TT in the front and ARB in the back, will need to put in Ashcroft front HD CV's and some heavy duty axles. People keep telling me just to put on a Toyota 3rd member but I think I'll save that for building an Ibex where ABS isn't a concern. :) Altering the gearing in the diffs may be a good idea though as the tires get larger to help get the power down with less system strain.
