Default Winter Tires

Narrowed to one of two:

Nokian Hakka R3 SUV
or
Pirelli Winter Scoprion

Any experience with one of these on a large heavy SUV in upper midwest type driving?

I am curious about this also.
New England winter coming up.
Tire Rack does not have an info for 2018 or 19 Discovery's.
They do have 2017 in their database. I have 20" wheels and the Scorpions are the only ones that comes up there:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?cameFrom=WinterSection&start Index=0&vehicleSearch=true&width=255/&ratio=55&diameter=20&sortcode=59941&performance=W &minLoad=XL&search=true&autoMake=Land%20Rover&auto Year=2017&autoModel=Discovery&autoModClar=HSE+Luxu ry

However if I just do a tire size search, Blizzak's also come up:

The Hakka R3 SUV's get great reviews. They have them at Discount Tire and a few other online. They are cheaper than the Pirellis.

Both are load rated appropriately. However the R3's are only R speed rated where the Pirellis are V speed rated. Which both are technically sufficient, I would feel more commfy on a V rated tire. The down side to the Pirelli's that I have read is they are great in snow for only the first 40% and then go down hill - thus their higher speed rating.

The driving will be on cold dry interstate pavement as much as snow/ice/slush covered roads.

Just concerned the R3's will feel squishy with a vehicle this large/heavy.

I have had good luck with Scorpions in the past but that was on a much lighter Rover.

The dealer gave me a set of Blizzaks for my 2017 Discovery HSE that I bought from them as a CPO.
They are 265/50R20 which is about 0.6 inches smaller in diameter than the 255/55R20's that are the factory tire.
This is 2 percent smaller and a local speed indicating sign that used to indicate 30 mph when my dash said 30 mph now says 30 mph when my dash says 31 mph. With the rounding error that agrees with the 1 percent error.

I had/have blizzak's that I bought for my GMC Yukon. They were/are very good tires IMHO. They rode almost as good as the all season Goodyears and had plenty of tread and bite. I bought them as we were snowmobiling at the time and I didn't want to be the guy that gets stuck in the unplowed parking lots...

I've had both, but on different SUVs (Cayenne for Scorpion and MB GL for Nokian). I remember being in love with the Nokians and thinking that the Scorpions were just sort of normal.

Anyone considering rims and tires?
I had an Explorer before this and it came with 20" rims.
I put 17" rims with 245/65R Scorpions on in the winter which added up to the same size as the factory 20" wheels and tires so speedo was correct.

Was great in the snow.
Tire rack does not show any packages that fit though. I think I read somewhere that wheels that fit the RR or RRS will work?

Check out:

Land Rover specific wheels with the correct load ratings. I bought a set for my winter/off road tires going on next month.

Those are pretty sweet looking. Looks like 20" the smallest though.
