CarPlay in the USA
Got her back from the dealership. YES FOLKS WE HAVE GOOGLE MAP INTEGRATION!!!! My 2017 GMC didn’t allow it but it works great and looks great here! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...198368440.jpeghttps://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...491ac88be.jpegLove that it allows TuneIn I can listen to any of my sports anywhere. |
Can you share what is your current version number?
I am on 18B, just got the car updated last week... |

New bug. If phone is plugged in CarPlay comes up but no means I can find to go back to regular home screen. Trying to listen to cubs/astros on my 5.5hr drive and the only way was to unplug so I could select the AM radio |
That has nothing to do with the car - it is because it is Cubs baseball...

Any way to update software without going to dealer?

Did you just ask to get it updated or did you reference a specific issue? |
I thought software could update over the WiFi link? Is that not the case?

I updated to 18b a couple of weeks ago and there is over the air software button, but so far is says no new updates.
So not sure if they have turned that on for real yet. I think everyone that has gotten 18c so far has gotten it a dealer. |
While my truck was at the dealer the other day I asked him to install the 18c. He said they'd just gotten it an installed it on a couple of trucks on the lot to make sure it doesn't cause any issues. He said he'd rather wait a week-ish to install in mine just incase something in the update causes a problem.
|
Had a callback on my appointment. Apparently this has been an issue they are seeing a lot, mine was last updated in 2017 and they said they had a new update that should address the issue. Hopefully it is the Airplay one, if not I am hoping it at least fixes the BT issue.
When I asked how long it would take she seemed to imply I would be out of there within an hr. |

Mine got updated to 18B right after I see your post. I find that I lost voice guidance and voice control. Do you have any similar problem?
Just booked appointment to get it checked out, may force dealer to do another update... I did lose text messaging but it turns out I had to turn it back on in my iphone setting. While Disco was at the dealers I updated my phone to IOS 12. It is a setting under bluetooth that I had to turn on again. |

I haven't even tried the voice control since the update. I was not impressed with it before. I will try it.

It is a setting under bluetooth that I had to turn on again. In language setting screen, don't see the voice options anymore. For the main language option, it kept defaulting back to UK instead of US. In regards to the voice control user friendly, there is a list with a key words concluded that works in this system. https://www.fpaceforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3853 |
I tried it at lunch time and it works. Same as before though, not a lot of options.

Can someone tell me how to check which version of software I have? When I go to the updates screen it says none are available, but does not display the current version number. I have the In-Touch Pro on a 2017 Discovery V. Thanks.

Wanted to share - we picked up our 2019 D5 Td6 today, and even though it has 18C installed, it does *not* have CarPlay yet. SA said that it's due for the Disco on 10/19. I didn't argue even though I knew about this thread. We'll see...

Hmmh, I just had to add it as an extra $300 line item on my 2019 order before order lock on the 21st.
|
Just updated
just had mine updated at the dealership as my Bluetooth was constantly resetting. Took about 5 hours. What a world of difference 18c is from my previous version. I confirmed Apple play does work, haven’t tried android but it is listed. The menu is quite easy to navigate and the phone can be locked while being used for CarPlay. |
Picked up my 2017 TD6 today and NO CarPlay after update to 18c |

I’m about to buy a 2018 Disco and have asked as a contingency they update to 18c, did you have to have them add the CarPlay option or does it just come with the 18c update? |

ok we will see I guess bc one member on here said they updated to 18c and didn’t have CarPlay. Is your Disco a 2017, 2018 or 2019? |
Mine is a 2019. 18C did not - by itself - enable CarPlay.

Im guessing that CarPlay is an extra that depending on the tech gets loaded or not. The dealerships are probably instructing the techs not to load unless it is paid for.
I will confirm with a tech I know. |

I've got a 2017 with 18b I discovered today that the same thing happened to me. Updated to iOS 12 and no longer have text messaging. Found this on the forum. It worked for me. Basically a Bluetooth setting has changed back to a default. Go in to the Bluetooth setting on your iPhone and then find fhe F-PACE entry click the blue circle to get more info. Then once that opens move the slider next to notifications so it’s green. |
My 2017 Discovery V went in this morning for the 48,000 mile service. I asked them to update the software. We'll see what I have when I get it back. I will report out once I know.

I simply brought my 2017 TD6 in stating the bluetooth was dropping and when done it did have Android/Apple Play. This was in North Florida.
That said, if you do get the update, the climate control has been moved off of the main display, you have to either hit the seat button or the ac button on the top middle of the AC control panel to display the climate control on the main display. Ended up having to ask the tech at LR how to access it because I couldn't find out how to control the rear climate any longer. That said, so far I haven't had a single lockup or BT drop since the update and the screen is much more responsive. Granted my unit was still on the original software so it was a big update for me. |
I have been reading the f pace and velar forums both US and UK and it appears it is an optional part of the update , sounds like they have to select the option when using the pathfinder system to update your vehicle.
It would appear that would also give the dealer the option to charge for Carplay. Maybe some dealers are just adding all the options without thinking about it. |
I am purchasing a CPO Disco 2018 from a dealer in Bethesda and as a contingency I had them update the software and add Apple CarPlay. The SA sent me a video of Apple CarPlay using one of the tech's phones, so I believe they have to add it as part of the 18c update but it is definitely doable. I told them I knew it was doable due to this forum and others, they didn't even bat an eye, just went ahead and installed it. FYI.
