Another update...

JLR Corporate approved me for a DFT or Dealer Facilitated Trade, which I interpret as a vehicle swap. I’m waiting for the details.

Good to hear that they are taking care of it one way or another

Feb 1 update... New Discovery is still in the shop. I’ve been approved for a Dealer Facilitated Trade but they cannot find me a similarly equipped 5 seater in the US and the 2018 Diesels are not available to order yet. In the middle of all this I just received a customer experience survey from JLR... whooo... that’ll be fun.

If anyone here works for JLR NA please let someone know that I need some help moving this forward. Please...

Brian

I have been waiting for the 2018 Diesel Discovery to get EPA approval so I can order one. I just got this email from my dealer : "Received word from Land Rover Corporate that the 2018 diesels will not be released this month which might slow production on the 2018 models."
2 weeks ago, they were hoping for approval the first week of February.
You can check the EPA list here : https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/pdfs/guides/FEG2018.pdf and here: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.shtml

I am probably going to order the gas engine instead. I want the diesel but it may just take too long for me. Going to think about it for a day or so.

You hit the requirements for the Ohio lemon law. You can get a replacement vehicle or your money back.
This happened to me almost 10 years ago in MA, not with LR. I was ordered a replacement built to the same specs.
Keep us posted...

Feb 9 update...

Still no resolution. No similarly spec’d 2017s are in stock in the US, 2018s are not available to order yet and now MAG (dealer) has declined to take my old vehicle back into their inventory, apparently negating the Dealer Facilitated Trade. They have pulled the drivetrain apart on my vehicle and still can not determine the root cause. There are also some other promises not being kept related to warranty and cost recoupment that I am concerned about.

I spoke with the Ohio Attorney General office today and lodged a complaint against MAG for impeding the replacement and JLR as the manufacturer. Yes, I clearly qualify under the lemon law buti don’t want a refund, just a replacement vehicle.

Yesterday I called JLR NA customer service to see what can be done to escalate and it is back in their hands.

Who knew this would be so difficult? Not me.

i appreciate this info, Ned. I used it today when the GM of MAG (my dealer) emailed me trying to tell me that he’s “processing paperwork daily” on my issue. I guess he’s taking on the EPA submission himself? *snicker* Cant think of what paperwork he’s doing “daily” if he can’t order 2018s yet and there are no 2017s around.

What a nightmare! But what do you mean the 2018 is not available to order yet? We ordered ours on 10/31/2017 and it was delivered 2 weeks ago:

Yes, ours is a gasoline. Interesting: I was debating on what to get and our salesman never mentioned that the 2018 TD6 wasn't available yet. Best of luck!!!
