Tap into compressor
 

Has anyone looked into tapping into the air compressor to be able to air up tires?

I think it’s been done on LR 3/4 but you can buy a small compressor for not a lot of money.

It is not a very big compressor, and I would not use it to air up tires. You will be better off to just buy a nice beefy 12V compressor to air up tires.

If you want onboard air without using a chintzy one plugged into a cigarette lighter, ARB has an ok one for 210 dollars through fourwheel parts... I'm sure you could find one made in the same chinese factory for less that does about the same thing.

Best $200 bucks ever is the Viair 400P. Its not a clean setup and takes a second, but it works great and its transferable which I like.

I use one of these, the price really went up it seems (used to around $100).

I just pop the hood and use the terminals for jump start there. Works great, and helps to keep the engine running. Airs up the D5 tires very quickly. With larger tires you may want to check the duty cycle on these, I think 30min on and 10 min off, or something like that to prevent overheating. Though with the D5 tires it is never an issues.

It packs up in a bag or case and easy to sign along. No mess no fuss, and if they ever break it is easy to replace vs messing with the suspension tire system.

I've got an ARB one. Works pretty well and comes in its own case.. Haven't used it for long term use, but does a good job putting about 10psi in the tires.
