Tires.
I keep wondering why Land Rover provided Discovery (allegedly the most capable so far) with street/ summer tires like Goodyear F1. That being said, I would like to ask for tire recommendations. I have 20" wheels and I was thinking about going to 265/50-20. Is anyone using this size without problems with some all season or on/off road tires? I am not looking for typical off road tires as I spent most of the time on highway.

Well, I don't actually have ours bought yet but I intend to put 275/55/20s on it when we get it. We live on a farm plus have a cabin at 9000 ft in CO so we actually go offroad. Won't be running Hell's Revenge or the like any more but we don't like pinch flats out in the middle of nowhere or up a long logging trail. The new Continental AT tires actually seem to have quite good road manners. But a "good" all season tire with enough sidewall will take you a long way. Firestone Destination and Bridgestone Dueler Alenza Plus are both on the all season short list in that same size.

Are you sure yours came with summer tires? Looks like you're in the NE USA and that would be pretty strange. Mine came with Goodyear all seasons. Which seem appropriate for typical driving year round for most people.
Of course if you want real off road performance that's different. But my guess is that's a very small minority of buyers |

For tires I stand behind the geolanders or Nokian rotiivas. Look them up on YouTube the they are both amazing. I’m in Texas and grew up farming on a 30k ranch. I still go out there and off-road it hunting and... well... messing around. Nokians in the past we’re tge best I’ve ever used. Cheaper pricing too as they are pushing into the US market. Buy them on amazon and have them mailed to the house. I use to say to only get what discount tire would sell till I realized every flat was always a “sidewall” puncture they wouldn’t fix. Now I just let some locals put on whatever I want and they only charge me $20. |
275/55r20 seems to be 3% bigger and 10lbs heavier than 255/55r20. How this affects handling, acceleration, various car sensors? I see quite few people using 275 without issues (so far) but it doesn't mean everything is right. I am just trying to avoid costly mistake.

I just ordered 275/55R20 based on recommendations from some guys in OZ. Should be on next week, I will post results. I plan on getting an alignment after.

How is the speedo dead on when the OEM 20" tire is 255/55 r20? Can you post pics I would like to try a set of those. |
