1995 Discovery 300 Tdi Manual
 

Hi There i have recently just bought a Disco 1 300tdi manual
and have a problem if any 1 could help ....rather confusing whats happening ?

sumtimes high range wont work will just rev as if clutch has gone ...but i can put it into diff lock and it works everytime then change back into normal range again and most of the time high works again and only really looses drive if i change it from hi to low and back etc etc ....thought it might be a half shaft but if it was tht would it not be losing drive in normal high and low range permanantly as i have figured the problem is definetly at the front side of things because when it loses drive even in gear with the clutch out the front prop shaft just spins ..could be a u joint not sure thought ?

i am also starting to think that its the actual shifter linkage/bushings because it is very hard to change
