Default Aloha!!

Aloha from Oahu, Hawaii!! Just purchased a used 98 Disco 1 as my daily and my fun project. Any other Oahu drivers here?

You will have great fun. Please take a look at the tech area of the Discovery 1 section, where you will find things to do for new-2-me Discos, work arounds for common problems, etc. And download the RAVE set of technical manuals for free. Be careful of the temperature gauge, over 9:00 position is getting too warm, it is not like an older Detroit iron engine. Post pictures from da beach!

I appreciate the heads up. I have already downloaded the manual, and seen your posts for the temp. I am keeping an eye open for any temperature rises. I assuming this was a common thing for the Discos?

Far too common, and a contributor to the HG failure rate IMHO. Because the temp guage is designed to give an average reading over a wide variety of acceptable heats, casusal users were not flooding the dealer service area with silly complaints. But a more seasoned user is prevented from seeing an overheating trend until it is a more serious problem. And a lot of people have been content to drive along at 3/4 scale, believeing they were OK. I like warning lights, and I like instruments you can trust with numbers. Of course, you can get a scanner to read live data to confirm things.

Maybe a wild paint scheme on the tire cover to match the area's famous attire.... Best lettering on I tire cover I saw - "Hummer Rescue Vehicle"
