Disco Junky From Ohio
Hi Guys,
Matt here from NW Ohio. I recently picked up the land rover bug and bought a couple.... I figure by having 2 vehicles I should be able to keep 1 running. Both are 2003 D2's with nearly identical specs.
The drive-able one has its quirks and needs some TLC... coil packs, sticky ignition, 3 amigos, window seals, intermittent windshield wipers and probably some other small stuff I am forgetting. The parts vehicle reportedly has a blown motor with a slipped sleeve. I guess the prior owner decided to overhaul the engine but decided not to change the oil pump and blew it up again. At that point his wife wasn't too happy and made him sell it. Other wise its a fairly clean vehicle with lots of good parts on it. These are the 2nd and 3rd D2's I have owned. In my mid 20's I had a 99 D2 until the front drive shaft poked a hole in the transmission. Despite its flaws I always loved the vehicle.
I own a small CNC shop and luckily I have room to park 2 vehicles inside. This forum has helped me fix some issues already and I figured now was a good of a time as any to become a member!

Yeah, for the most part. Finding some stuff I don't have as none of my tools are automotive specific. Might add a car lift at some point in the future.
Tore apart the parts motor last night and found this... a slipped sleeve that punched threw the head gasket.
Trying to wrench on something every day till parts vehicle is a rolling chassis and other is up to standard.
