New here and figured I would drop a note to say hello before I launch into the many, many questions I'm sure to have. I recently made the decision to sell my 2004 Jeep WJ (second/adventure vehicle) and will be seeking out a 2004 D2 as I've always been a huge fan of them. I've been lurking here for some time and have already gathered a great deal of information (thanks for that). All that is to say, I am (painfully) aware of the many and varied issues most of you have had to deal with as Disco owners. I go into this with eyes wide open. I'm turning 40 this year and finally will have the time and, perhaps more importantly, resources to address whatever may come. Additionally, and not insignificantly, my wife has blessed this flight of fancy. So here we go...

Ha, thanks...I think. No, I get it. My first vehicle (in the mid-90s) was a '72 FJ40 that my dad was able to secure for me for the princely sum of getting it off the guy's property. I learned to love and came to actually look forward to working on that thing. I'm really looking forward to getting back into projects, now with my boys!

Well, after having spent a number of days perusing the D2 and LR3 forums I am starting to lean towards an early model LR3. Has any else here wrestled with a similar decision (D2 vs. LR3)? Which way did you go and why? I understand they are two very different beasts (for a variety of reasons), but I'd love to hear cases made, no matter how illogical, for each.

Honestly I picked up my D2 based on cost and I like the classic style. After driving it for a while, I feel somewhat like I'd rather have a LR3 since I'm primarily a daily driver of my D2.

Yeah, I prefer the D2 style as well, but the gap has been shrinking as the LR3 grows on me (and I read fewer horror stories about them).
