Yeah, you would receive more responses if you post in the DII section.
Sounds like you're dealing with a multitude of issues which aren't related. Let's break this up into sections:
1) Three of your lights are a common issue with the DII. The ABS, Hill descent and TC light are referred to as 'the three amigos' and have to do with either a wheel sensor or ABS modulator/shuttle valve issue. If you search for 'three amigos' on the forum, you'll see that you're not alone with this issue. I've been driving with my 3 amigos lit for years now and just pump the brakes when on snow/ice. 2) The hand brake. Check to see if the emergency brake is engaged.
3) The knocking in your engine. This is not related to the two issues above. Knocking can be an indication of low oil, a stuck lifter, a bad rod, or something else.
Questions that come to mind while reading your post. How long have you owned the vehicle and what is the mileage? What codes are you getting? Post up and maybe someone can help.

Ok thanks for getting back to me it's not the engine that's knocking it was the breaks well think it was miles is 89000 03 plate and AV had it about 8 months the lad I got it from never put antifreeze in it and it froze the engine so I locked up a big stink about it till he put in a new engine I will post the codes when I get home from work cheers Dave
