Default LR4 owner in Scottsdale

Hi all, this is Ricky from Scottsdale. Picked up a 2012 LR4 with 135,000 miles recently. It’s in great shape overall but need some things. DIY is the only way I can afford a Land Rover so I’ll be active in the forum from time to time.

done so far:
  1. F/R brakes
  2. Passenger side front control arm bushing. Took three times longer than I thought, will do drivers side soon.
  3. Dealer replaced fuel tank flange under recall due to leaking fuel.

to do:
  1. Full detail with ceramic coat
  2. Drivers side bushing
  3. Transmission service with British Atlantic kit (sitting in my shed currently)
  4. Trailer wiring (trying to diy the harness, not paying $155 for the kit)
  5. Inspect coolant crossover
  6. Inspect timing chain guides (no chain rattle, curious if previous owner updated them)

Excited to be part of the community!

-Ricky

Welcome to the gang. LR4 is a very capable off road machine.

Thanks!

I was under the truck checking out the hanging weights behind the rear bumper and noticed some wiring going to the hitch area. I popped off the access lid and found that I have factory hitch wiring installed! This is a non-HD truck… is that normal?

Oh, and how'd you get the dealer to do the fuel flange? The rest of us have been patiently awaiting our second letter to let us know the parts are available.

I have not received the second letter either. In my case I was leaking fuel so I had to pay for the dealer to replace the part. Land Rover assured me that they would reimburse my cost ($1200) when the second letter was out and pay for the dealer to put the new part on the truck. Should happen this spring if LR is correct with their estimate.
