Default New from Michigan

Greetings fellow Land Rover lovers.
My name is Jim Harper, I do a radio show here in Detroit on Magic 105.1
I've always been fascinated by all things Rover and this Fall ended up buying a 1997 Defender 90, and today just picked up a 1966 Series IIa. Both are in great shape but I'm having some weird sounds come from the 66 Series IIa which sound like a "knocking" underneath the trans when I've almost coasted to a stop. It happens just as I put it in neutral and apply the brakes and about 3 mph...I hear a "knock-knock-knock", about 3 times then it goes away. Nothing at any acceleration speeds or when she idles.
Does anyone have any clue what might be happening here?
I'm pretty new at the mechanics of this truck and very grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Jim
