Series 2 bearings-where to buy?
 

Please can anyone help.
I am new to the forum and have a series 3 which I now learn somebody has changed the original engine for an early series 2! I have had the crank re-ground to +0.20 on mains and +0.10 on big ends.
The engineers are being less than helpful and I cannot find replacement shells anywhere. I have tried all the usual suppliers ( Craddocks, Dunsfold, Fry's etc.,) but all either say they are the same ( they are NOT ) or cannot help as very difficult to find. The locating "lugs" are opposite handed and the shells are wider than standard series shells. the usual numbers quoted are RTC 172920 & RTC 2173010 but these are not correct.
I would be very grateful if anyone can help.

Thank you I did manage to resolve it finally and tracked some down from Cox & Turner engineering who were very helpful-much more so than the engineers who did the work!

Did the PN list I posted help at all? In case someone else is in the same situation.

Yes and no, thank you.
I went to Turner Engineering who were extremely helpful and identified the engine withing the first 3 digits of the number being read out! I have a 1958-1960 block with a series 2 head-great.

Any way they pointed me in the direction of Cox & Turner Engineering in Southampton who were again very helpful. Although engineers per se, they know all about Landrovers and had stocks of my bearings on the shelf (all original in greased paper and boxes!), although be advised there are no more standard bearings available. However they make any bearing you from scratch-but at a price, although better than scrapping the engine.

John Craddock may be able to source but, as always it depends upon who you get on the other end of the phone.
South Cerney engineering in Cirencester also can provide if they do the work, but again expensive .

Std bearings being NLA shouldn't be an issue. Oversize being NLA would be a bigger issue. No pun intended ;)

Yeah, I was wondering if you had a "custom" engine. With Rovers that old it's pretty common since so many components are interchangeable.
