Switched from Saabs to Rovers b/c obviously I'm a masochist

Recently purchased a 2003 Discovery w/123,00 miles. Almost mint exterior and interior, needs engine work. On the road for now with my teenage son and plan to put a new Turner engine in asap (wallet permitting). A great project - looking forward to many years with the new engine. We drive cars forever so while I'm no expert (no major engine experience - yet) I am used to old cars and the "fun" of DIY diagnostics and repairs. The shortest time we've ever owned a car is 10 years…I kept my 2000 Saab on the road for 17 years until someone hit while it was parked. Great forum - it's been very helpful already - and I look forward to contributing.

Welcome, D2's are easy to work on, which is a good thing, because everything breaks, lol.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome. You might want to hold off on the Turner engine and follow the LS conversion thread. It will come with its own set of challenges but there's a good chance money will be pretty far down the list and it could be a great father/son adventure.

Welcome! We've got related fleets. I've got an 05 9-5 aero wagon 5spd mt and just picked up an LR4.

I would be seriously tempted by an mid-2000's aero wagon in good condition!
