First, your 98 is a 4.0, second why?
Neither the tranny or diffs could handle that sort of extra power and most how have tried to turbo theirs, landed up burning piston from lack of gas. |

Guys, like he said, it's a junk truck. Let him have fun! I'd be doing the same thing!

get a euro trash 2012 range rover.

dont let these guys bring you down!!!!!!!! if you want to turbo your rover then TURBO THE DAMN THING!!!!!!!!! at the very least it would be bad ass while it lasted. If i had a spare rover to turbo i would. In my personal opinion i dont think you are going to destroy your rover. they make kits to drop in crate 350's and thats twice the power and torque of a stock disco and they stay together.
good luck and i want to see some pics and a good write up if you follow through with it. |

ummmm... it is the fragile driveline system that won't hold up. Stock front shaft of a D2 will do it with very little encouragement.
As for turbos, check you history book. Grandpa may have sported around in a 62-63 Buick F85 Jetfire, the first production turbo car made in the USA. And it used this same engine block. There are Rovers with superchargers. But most of us are content to just have the thing run daily and not overheat. an older Rover has many things to repair. |
Since this has been dug up...
Chariots of Fire used to sell bolt on kits, and I believe they also produced some "Limited Edition" Rover vehicles. You can find more info on www.rangerovers.net. That being said, I have installed one of their supercharger kits on a 1997 D90. It was not chipped. It made the truck not quite the slug it used to be.. Cheers |
