clutch gone under 30k miles
 

Have A evoke, ex demo, had for 16 months with one service. 29k Miles but land rover will Not honour warranty as say driver error due to eccessive heat damage Not component. Has anyone else had this? Dont tow or do offroad etc.

Don't bother with the local agents (gonks) write directly to LR warranty department first in the US and then copy the letter to LR UK warranty department. Who drives the truck? and do they ride the clutch a lot either offroad or in traffic? What is the state of adjustment or is it auto adjusting?

Even an Evoque is designed for offroad use, maybe not constant rock crawing, but, it should cope adequately with 50% offroad use as they advertise it as an offroad vehicle. If LR make a towing kit for the Evoque it means it's designed for towing within the stated spec weight limits.

I'm no fan of the Evoque but it should perform better than that so don't let the stupid 'bar stewards' off the hook too easily.

Thanks for your info. Had a friend look at the clutch they took out and agrees only heat marks. As i drove it 100 Miles to get it back to garage and wasnt slipping, Why did they replace. They did Not road test either!

Most companies consider the clutch a wear item like brakes or tires. Not saying I agree but that is normally the case.

Agreed AR. Some people can 'kill' a clutch in 30K miles and some last 100K miles. It depends whether they ride the clutch and/or slip it a lot. Problem is modern clutch springs are very light to stop people complaining and often to keep the women happy and many keep their foot resting on the clutch pedal not realising they are riding the clutch and causing it to slip slightly whilst at the same time killing the release bearing. In my old Series 2A you needed a herculean left leg to declutch :D

It's probably why I will only buy autos now, manual boxes and clutches with stop/start town traffic don't go together. :rolleyes:

I still have the original clutch in my 72 MGB with nearly 100k miles on it and the clutch is fine. Throw out bearing is getting grumbly though.

It is very much dependent on how you drive them.

If it wasn't slipping what were the symptoms?

you bought a DEMO do you really think the salesman gave a crap about the clutch? they beat that car to within an inch of its life reconditioned it and sold .
